Cenacolo Grandparents Project

The Cenacolo Community was born in July 1983 from the intuition of one nun, Mother Elvira Petrozzi, who gave her life to God for the lost and marginalized young people of our time. Over the years, various communities have been born in various parts of the world, supporting an ideal of Christian life based on prayer, on common work, on life shared with sincerity, in sacrifice and in fraternal help, always at the service of the poor.

In the most recent project, the “embrace of life” of the Cenacolo Community also reaches the elderly: Mother Elvira imagined a place, a real village, where the elderly, together with young people and children, can be “inside life ”, to give the richness of their experience, to feel not a burden but a gift, a resource.

This desire is becoming reality: work on the “A Family for Grandparents” village, next to the fraternity of Cherasco (in the province of Cuneo, Piedmont) began a few years ago.

The Giorgio Deiana Foundation is pleased to contribute to the project, helping the continuation of the construction works, so that many single “grandparents” can find a family where they can spend the “sunset” of life with a happy heart.
